About Me

Hello! My name is Zoe Zong or 宗瑜箫, and I am a Clinical Psychology PhD student at Georgia State University. Here, you can learn more about my work as a researcher, clinician, and teacher. Welcome!

Research: I am a PhD student in Dr. Cynthia Stappenbeck‘s Alcohol and Interpersonal Violence Lab and an NIH T32 Pre-doctoral Fellow in the A-PREVENT Training Program. My research is survivor-led, sex-positive, and grounded in intersectionality and liberation psychology. I study sexual violence, sex, and sexuality in minoritized communities, with a particular focus on how racism, sexism, and other systems of power jointly shape experiences of racialized sexual violence, and on what it looks like to support survivors in reclaiming sexual pleasure. I love working across methods, such as advanced quantitative approaches, qualitative methods, and community-based approaches.

Therapy: I am a clinician-in-training at GSU, providing services through the GSU Psychology Clinic and external practicum placements. My approach is strength-based and client-centered, drawing most heavily from liberation psychology and multiculturalism.

Teaching: I am very passionate about teaching, especially on Human Sexuality. My approach is grounded in the belief that knowledge should be accessible and that the classroom is never separated from the rest of students' lives.
